Breast Reduction
Breasts that are too large can be as problematic for a woman as those that are too small. Pain in the chest and tension in the shoulders interfere with movement and exercise.
Surgical breast reduction has been performed for more than 50 years and there have not been many changes in the procedure. The surgery reduces the volume of the breast and restores its normal shape. Growth of the breast has moved the nipple too low over time and it will have to be moved higher up on the breast so that it is in the position that suits the new shape of the breast. Many different surgical approaches can be used here. Scars will be visible for the first 6-12 months, but they will heal over time and become almost unnoticeable.
Sensitivity of the nipple may decrease as a result of the surgery (however, the sensitivity of large breasts has usually already decreased).
Breastfeeding is generally impossible after breast reduction. The surgeon can choose alternative methods for breast reduction if the ability to breastfeed is important for the client.
Scars are inevitable after breast reduction, but they become almost unnoticeable over time.
About the surgery
This surgery is performed under general anaesthetic. We will check the sensitivity of the patient before choosing a method of anaesthesia. The most suitable method will be determined by the physician-anaesthesiologist in our clinic during your pre-surgery interview. ECG, venous blood and urine test results must be submitted to the anaesthesiologist prior to the general anaesthetic. If necessary, the tests will be organised by our clinic.
