Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure that is designed to reshape the nose. Rhinoplasty can make your nose larger or smaller and can change the shape of the bridge, tip, or nostrils. Rhinoplasty can also relieve breathing abnormalities or correct a birth defect or injury.
During the rhinoplasty procedure, incisions are made either along the nostrils or inside the nostrils. By discreetly placing the incisions along or inside the nostrils, there should be no real visible scarring. Next, the skin is separated from the bone and cartilage, which is sculpted to the desired shape. When the rhinoplasty surgery is complete, a splint is applied to help your nose keep its new shape. Rhinoplasty usually takes one to two hours and is performed under general anesthesia.
For the first 24 hours after rhinoplasty, you may experience some minor discomfort and puffiness in your face, but any discomfort can be controlled with medication. Most of the swelling and bruising should disappear within two weeks of your rhinoplasty. If there is a correction of a bony part of nose, pacient has to wear a plaster splint until one week. Recovery from rhinoplasty usually takes up to a month.
